ABOUT KAREN MONTANARO
"What do you get when you cross Marcel Marceau with Anna Pavlova? Answer: Karen Montanaro."
—The Aragon Herald, Spain
Karen Montanaro is a world-renowned dancer and mime artist, an award-winning choreographer, and the innovator of "mimedance" (the fusion of two classical art forms). Karen currently tours the world with her one-woman show, Tanzspiel. She is also a teaching artist offering residencies in movement, mime and dance in public and private schools throughout the United States. Karen danced professionally with the Ohio Ballet and the Darmstadt Opera Ballet in Germany. For more than a decade, she toured and taught internationally with her husband and teacher, mime master Tony Montanaro. In mid-career, Karen’s husband introduced her to Christian Science. She writes, “At first I used Christian Science to become a better performer. I now use mime, dance and improvisation to become a better Christian Scientist. I am delighted to bring my whole self to these workshops; not only teaching mime, dance, and improv techniques but also sharing how Divine Science broadens our range of motion as it enhances our joy and freedom through movement.”
