You Are The Orchestra

Morning, Afternoon

There's a world of gorgeous sounds out there beyond traditional instruments for making music. Slapping thighs, foot stomping, hand clapping, harmonic “doot, doots”, harmonic hums for strings, simple sung tone clusters, a spoon on a teacup, even wind whistling. These instruments are available to all of us.

Working together in a recording studio atmosphere beginning with Peter's catchy, foundational musical demo, students will re-create original orchestration tracks, then, session by session, invent their own parts until the music becomes a new work--leaving the demo behind and creating their own live orchestra.

Along the way, you’ll learn the basics of rhythm, melody, harmonies, backup and lead vocals, reach a deeper understanding of just how music is created and produced in today’s world and become a creative part of that production.

This is a totally involving set of creative sessions that keeps each class member creating, imagining, learning and participating at every turn. It’s simple to do and great fun for all!
