The Art of Cooking

Morning

“The more you know, the more you can create. There’s no end to imagination in the kitchen.” – Julia Childs

Join us for a unique blend of culinary and artistic exploration in our class, "The Art of Cooking." This immersive experience is divided into two sessions: a morning cooking class focusing on beautiful, locally sourced foods, and an afternoon session dedicated to documenting what you create. Join us to enhance your culinary repertoire, develop your artistic skills, and leave with a beautiful recipe book filled with your unique creations!

In the morning join Lizzie in the kitchen and explore a variety of cooking and baking techniques. Together we’ll embrace the joy of cooking and transform simple local ingredients into beautiful food. Beginners and experts alike are welcome. This class will inspire your culinary creativity and build your confidence in the kitchen. We’ll learn techniques of plating and presentation that will transform even the simplest meal into an experience! We’ll capture images of all we create that can be used in the afternoon class to build the start of an artistic watercolor recipe book or whatever else you dream up! (Note: The Art of Cooking class is designed to be paired with the afternoon Recipe/Sketch Journal class session, however students may choose to enroll in either class as a stand alone session if desired.)

Lizzie Loomis

Lizzie Loomis

Hi, I'm Lizzie. I am a maker, baker, singer, and lover of all things that create community. In fact, most of the jobs I have had over the past 15 years have involved creating community through food. You might know me from Owatonna, where I was the Head Cook for over 7 years. Or you may know me from my work at Principia College, where I was the Resident Counselor in Howard House. I also spent years as a cook on sailboats with Ocean Classroom and have a deep love for the ocean. When I'm not cooking, I enjoy singing with my barbershop quartet, Last Call, and Skyline Chorus in Denver, a women's barbershop chorus.
