Benefits of Working at Camp
Here’s why spending your summer at camp could be
just the job you've been looking for:
Develop Leadership and Teamwork Skills

Camp counselors are pivotal in shaping the camp experience for campers and fellow staff members. Guiding a group of campers through various activities fosters leadership skills, adaptability, and the ability to work cohesively within a team. These skills are valuable in a camp setting and are transferable to future professional endeavors. Working at camp is a unique opportunity to develop skills like critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity!
Access the Newfound & Owatonna
Career Network
To help support staff's future career trajectory, we launched the Newfound and Owatonna Career Network. Over a hundred alums in diverse fields have signed up to help support our staff as they move through college and into the working world. This support might take the form of informational interviews or help with finding internships and jobs. As a member of the Newfound and Owatonna staff you will have access to this list and the expertise of many of our alums.
Make a Positive Impact

Working at camp means making a difference in the lives of campers. As a mentor and leader, you inspire, encourage, and guide campers as they grow. Having the opportunity to witness this transformation is immensely rewarding. Counselors make a difference every day!
Build Lifelong Friendships
and Create Lasting Memories
Working at camp isn't just a job: it's a community that thrives on friendship and shared experiences. The friendships you form will extend far beyond the summer, creating a network of support and shared memories that will last a lifetime.

Discover New Skills and
Cet Certified in them

The range of activities at camp provides a springboard for discovering and developing new skills and talents. All staff are trained and certified in their teaching areas during pre-camp. It's an excellent opportunity to dive deep into a speciality and earn certifications at the same time. Certifications range from being a ropes instructor to being certified as a Maine state tripper. There is something for everyone.
Unplug and Connect
with Nature
In a world dominated by screens, the allure of a summer outdoors is compelling. Imagine spending your day at your "office" on the water, on the ropes course, teaching sports skills, or guiding trips through the Maine wilderness. Working at camp provides a break from the noise of modern life and offers an opportunity to explore the incredible state of Maine.
